Gun Control
With the huge string of gun violence that has been going on, gun control has been a "top priority", according to Obama. However, is stricter gun control really the answer?

Re: Gun Control
the second amendment is for our protection, not against one another but protection against a corrupt government. Gun control is the first step to marshal law, do we really want that to happen? anyways will telling criminals that already break the law that they cant have guns get them to stop? NO, it will just make things easier for them. I may be biased (i live in the south) but TRY to dispute my argument.
Re: Gun Control
gun control just takes the means of defense away from law abiding citizens...criminal get guns illegally not from gun stores ...they get guns smuggled in from Mexico

Re: Gun Control
I disagree.
If you want to legally own a gun, I think it's reasonable that you have to register it and store it in a safe when you don't need to carry it with you. I also think it's a good idea to have to get a permit to own a firearm. I also don't see any legal and practical use for a fully automatic weapon other than military and police use.
Lot's of people own guns legally in the US and Canada for hunting and self-defence, so gun control is not taking guns away from law abiding citizens. Perhaps it's not so effective against criminals, but it does make it harder for them to obtain weapons.
In short: Firearms can be dangerous and should be treated with care. You should be responsible when handling firearms and you should have significant knowledge, not just about firearms in general, but about the specific weapon you plan to use, before you use it. Firearms are not toys and should never be treated as such.
